Topic : Home Sweet Home (Module 1)

"Look at our house...!! Nice or not?"

The little twin (Nuh & Hud) showed their artworks.

This week, they have responded to me quite well compared with before. They started to smile, answered questions, repeated what teacher said & did some movements as well. I am personally so happy with their progress.... :-)

Sara & mom (Pn. Suryati) with her artwork

Auni & Mom (Pn Umi) with her artwork.

A very quiet sweet girl who loves to dance and always smile.

Nabila with her brother and Amirul

This topic is about home and kids learned what is the function of a house and why we should take care of our house. They also were taught with some vocabs related to house like wall, door, window, etc. I cut papers into shapes like triangle, rectangle & square and asked the kids to do some paper collage onto the paper. Then, we decorated with others such as clouds, tree and drawn whatever they want.

Topic : My Favourite Food

Yummy Fruit Salad...!!!

Everyone was given a chance to mix the fruits....just like a little chef...:D

Its makan time...!!!
This is an interesting topic where kids learned basic things about food. They were taught what kind of food is healthy and what is unhealthy food. Flash cards about food was shown to the kids as well. The best part is when we did some simple cookin' where "little chefs" took turns to mix the fruits with thousand island.

Topic : What's On My Face (Module 1)

Hana with her puppet

Tsara with her puppet
Kids learned about what they can find on their faces like eyes, nose, mouth, chin & cheeks. We used the brown pack paper and did some decorations and simple puppet was done! I still need to improve on this crafts as well....hihihi...

2nd & 4th class (Module 1)

This session with "My Feelings" topic, kids learned about expressions like happy, angry, scared, sad, etc. And we apply with what they've learned thru "Face expression hand fan".
Nabila so happy with her "little fren"
This is what Nabila did....

This is my own idea for "My Body is My Buddy" topic. I separated into few parts like head, body, hands & legs and kids need to assemble the "Little Fren" using the tab button. Then they need to decorated and draw their little ren like eyes, nose, mouth, hair & clothes. Still need to improve on this crafts to make it looks better....:D

Article : Importance of Play in Child Development

Play is universal throughout the animal kingdom -- whether its a puppy chasing its tail, or young birds swooping through the air. The importance of play to youngsters should not be underestimated.
Play is an essential part of growing up and researchers beleive its critical to ensre children reach their full potential in life.
Research in animals show that brain connection develop during period of play, and there's no reason to suppose the same is not true of young humans.
Parents don't always undertsand the importance of play however, and in today's competitive world, the temptation is to stop your children "wasting time" and to put the time to what they believe is more constructive use.
For a child, however, there is no more constructive activity than play. When analysing the importance of play, particularly if you are tempted to introduce a more "worthwhile" activity, such as flash cards, educational computer games or dancing lessons, you should take into account the following points :-
* Play allows a young child to be "in-charge" - Think about this -- in everyday lives, they're small and powerless, always being told what to do and how to do it. Without an adult around, they're running the show.
* Play helps the children learn about the world in which they live. They can investigate and discover, test their theories, spatial relationships, explore cause and effect, societal role and family values. Such the importance of play, that there's virtually no area of life about which it can't teach a child something.
* Play build self esteem. Children will often play at something they know they can do well, at which they can be successful.
* Play build social skills. Children will begin playing with inanimate and non-threatening objects, like cuddlt toys, bricks, etc, so practising their interactive skills. Later, playing with other children will build on this foundation as they learn to share, take turns, assert themselves and begin to emphatise with others.
* Play with parents shouldn't be under estimated either as research shows that children whose parents play with them ultimately develop superior social skills.
* Play also provides the opportunity for children to work out their feelings. The importance of dealing with difficult or unpleasant emotions is immense. A child whose worried about going to the dentist, for example, may deal with the anxiety by setting up a clinic for dolls with toothache.
* Play helps with language development. Think of the vast number of words of toddler uses during play, many of them repeatedly, enhancing their language skills.
* Play allows children to grow beyond their years. They can pretend to be all sorts of things in play - a doctor, a surgeon, a civil engineer even! (Think of those bricks)
Finally, don't forget to consider the importance of stimulating your child's creativity and imagination - aking a castle in the sand, or a car garage out of a shoe box, taking an order in their own (imaginary) restaurant or dressing up as a king or queen - these all allow children to stretch the limit of their world and experience the fun of make-believe.

Week 1 (Module 1)

ALIMkids Playgroup, Kinrara started our first session this morning.

Welcome to Farhana, Khayra, Aqil, Dhia, A'isyah, Aqlan, Sofea, Alesha & Tsara..!!

Eventhough at first some kids were very quiet during the session, they started to show responds after we did our craft for this week. Supports from mothers make it more exciting for the kids.

Things getting better after the craft when we did some movements and sing "Syahadah" song. Then, continued with introductions of phonics (letter A) and a bit of story telling. By the end of the session, some kids already responded to me.

Kak Fairuz (owner of Akademi Alfan) helped her son, Aqlan decorated his flag..

Mothers were so helpful helping their kids doing the flag craft...

As this is my first time I conducted the playgroup, of course there are some problems or mistakes occurred. Its ok...thats what I like....learn from mistakes. I will try to improve to make sure this playgroup will be conducted better in the next session. :D
